10 Adventure Motorcycles Built For Riders Who Want One Bike For Everything

It would be great to have a motorcycle for every day of the week, but there is a charm to having a single bike that can do it all. Like your favorite pair of pants that can transmogrify from the bottom half of a suit to a Saturday night out with friends, a single-bike garage can be comfortable in its simplicity.

Adventure bikes are good at this sort of stuff. They aren’t limited by tarmac, have extremely comfortable accommodation, can take a pillion along for a ride if needed, and their high seating position means you never feel hemmed in traffic. If you looked hard enough, you’d be able to find ten adventure motorcycles built for riders who want one bike for everything, but you don’t have to, because we’ve drawn up the list for you.

The 390 Adventure R remains the default choice of adventure bike if you want something that can go far enough off-road to almost qualify as a dual-sport. KTM has given it a lot of its off-road DNA, with long-travel fully adjustable suspension and a full electronics suite complete with a six-axis IMU. Its single-cylinder engine might be a little unrefined compared to the twins in the segment, but the grunt it offers for off-road work is undeniable. The 5-inch TFT with Bluetooth and navigation, and the tall windscreen, enable its touring capabilities.

The Ibex 800 E has a bunch of features that a premium bike would be proud to have. Some of them are a radar-based blind spot monitoring system, an 8-inch touchscreen TFT with Apple CarPlay, and a steering damper. A two-way quickshifter, center stand, tire pressure monitoring, and tubeless spoke rims are standard as well. All this at a price of $10,299 is quite unbelievable.

The Ténéré has always been the best middleweight ADV to use to go where no middleweight ADV has been before. However, it was also a little agrarian, and that was simply the trade-off you needed to make. For 2025, the Ténéré has a by-wire throttle, ride modes, and an optional two-way quickshifter. Yamaha has also given it a taller windscreen, which makes it more comfortable on the highway. It remains light and nimble thanks to its low curb weight and great torque spread.

The Tuareg is a hugely capable motorcycle, but if you want something that can go much further off-road than the standard Tuareg, then Aprilia also has the Tuareg Rally for a little more of your cash. You get different, fully adjustable suspension, tires, and wheels more suited to the rough stuff, and a very distinctive livery reminiscent of Aprilia’s racing machines. Along with the torquey twin, you have a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch and a two-way quickshifter – and the famed APRC electronics suite tuned for off-road usage.

The F 900 GS is all the adventure bike you’ll ever need. You can customize it to suit your needs as well – you can add on packages that make it better for off-road usage, or for long miles on tarmac. Still, the base is a very competent, fun adventure bike that is enormously capable, no matter what you require from it. It has fully adjustable suspension and tubeless spoke rims as standard, but other features like a two-way quickshifter are options.

After you’ve added all the essentials for a premium to the F 900 GS, it will end up being more expensive than the full-size Africa Twin. Its auto transmission has a ‘G switch’ that slips the clutch for slow, walking-speed technical work. Features include a TFT touchscreen display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a by-wire throttle, and a six-axis IMU with a full safety suite. The horsepower figure might be forgettable, but that doesn’t mean that the Africa Twin is slow!

The KTM 890 Adventure R is a very capable motorcycle, but its Swedish sibling is a touch more refined, and therefore better to live with when you don’t want to ride as quickly as possible. The Norden 901 Expedition gets everything that you’ll need from a premium ADV – fully adjustable long-travel suspension, standard heated grips and seat, taller-than-standard windshield, better sump protection, a six-axis IMU, and a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation. There is even a custom ride mode where the rider can set all the parameters individually.

Triumph Motorcycles

The Tiger is a well-respected middleweight adventure bike known to be a good tourer. However, if you like the idea of taking it off-road, Triumph has the Tiger 900 Rally Pro for you. The inline three-cylinder engine has Triumph’s T-Plane crank, which serves up much better low-rev torque. The electronics suite is a complete one, and it doesn’t weigh significantly more than an equivalent parallel twin. You get fully adjustable Showa suspension, Brembo Stylema front brakes, and a 7-inch TFT display.

The R 1300 GS is the default choice for most people looking to get a full-size ADV. It has earned this reputation through its reliability, ease of use, and some great marketing. Still, it is a very capable machine that is surprisingly approachable. The boxer twin engine is more powerful as well as more torquey than before, thanks to the variable valve timing, and you can also specify it with an automated manual gearbox. That means no shifting or using the clutch at any point!

The Multistrada V4 Rally is the most off-road-ready Multi in the range. You get everything that makes the Multistrada V4 such a great motorcycle, beginning with the ‘Granturismo’ engine. This V4 spins the opposite way (like the race bike), has the ‘twin pulse’ firing order for better torque, and best of all, has rear cylinder deactivation that reduces fuel consumption and heat. Of course, you also get a full electronics suite with a six-axis IMU, a TFT color display, a standard two-way quickshifter, and electronic suspension. However, the most impressive thing about it has to be the 37,000-mile valve clearance check interval!
