Best Luxury Bathrobes of 2025

As the age-old saying goes, once you find a bathrobe you like, there’s no going back. Whether you’re the kind of person who wears plush bathrobes in every season or only whips out your special, sumptuous robe when the weather turns chilly, finding a luxury bathrobe you can turn to time and time again is akin to locking down the perfect bedding, pillow, or duvet cover — which is to say, the market is replete with options, making it important to know exactly what’s best in the world of upscale bathrobes when it comes to materials, weaves, lengths, and beyond.

To help you in your search, we consulted three industry experts who have decades of experience exploring the merits of various kinds of bathrobes. According to Laura McIver, managing director at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Luxury Hotel and Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona, not all robes are created equal. “As with sheets, [you want to consider] the fabric and materials that a robe is made from, as well as the quality of brand and craftsmanship,” she tells WWD. Jasmine Samano — director of wellness at Proper Hospitality, which curates high-end lifestyle hospitality experiences across multiple properties — takes this sentiment a step further. “In my view, the most important considerations are whether or not the robe is made from 100-percent natural cotton and where the cotton is coming from,” Samano says. Note that cotton is not the end-all and be-all fabric for bathrobes and that multiple worthy options are instead crafted out of alternative materials like silk or bamboo-based lyocell.

We’ll go into even more specifics later, but for now you need a fresh robe, stat, and there’s no time to waste, so here are the 10 best luxury bathrobes for taking your at-home lounge sessions to hotel-worthy levels. No matter if you’re on the lookout for a cozy gift to treat your wife with, need a self-care indulgence to mitigate those cold-weather blues, or are proactive enough to already be scoping out a holiday gift, there’s something here for everyone. The best part? All 10 of these robes have been tested by our team of editors, because you deserve to hear only the most honest, tried-and-true shopping advice.

Weezie Women’s Short Plush Robe

Weezie, whose towels are veritable sensations (made even more so due to the fact that they can be personalized by the in-house embroidery team!), is also no stranger to bathrobes. We’d love to introduce you to its Short Plush Robe in particular, a new arrival whose exterior mimics the hand feel of velour while guaranteeing absorbency you can rely on. Because of its attached tie, belt loops are taken out of the equation: streamlining the robe’s silhouette and making things airier, an effect that’s only amplified by those shortened sleeves and hem. You’ll be tempted to wear it during sweater-weather season, too, as the no-snag terry fabric is inherently warming. We love the attention to detail Weezie puts into its shopping experience — text-based delivery reminders for the win! — and yes, embroidery or applique customization is an option here too. We’re sold.

Editor testing and review notes: “I’ve never owned a short-sleeved robe before, and honestly what a joy it is! The print is feminine without overdoing it, though the white trim slightly resembles that of a hospital gown if you look too closely. There are no loops here, but the belt stays on anyways and grants a cinched-waist effect when pulled tight. It’s giving ‘rich Southern housewife having iced tea on her wraparound porch,’ and I love it! The robe also benefits from attractive cap sleeves, making it a fashion piece in its own right. As someone who runs hot on a daily basis, I never once felt like I was breaking a sweat in it, thanks to the style’s breeziness.” — WWD Senior Commerce Writer Stacia Datskovska

Cozy Earth Windowpane Resort Robe

A bathrobe as fashion-forward as your favorite ready-for-fall dress? Now that’s something to write home about (and purchase in multiples). Cozy Earth’s bamboo-based sheets and pajamas have attracted the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Kris Jenner, but its Windowpane Resort Robe is what truly deserves to hang on your bathroom door. Its windowpane pattern functions kind of like today’s playful accessories trend — sparking instant joy. Made from a blend of cotton and bamboo, it also merges absorbency with temperature regulation and even has antimicrobial properties. In short, this is a robe you can wear after the bath, pool, sauna, nap, and everything in between. Most colorways are fully sold out, so don’t waste a second if you want to call this baby yours.

Editor testing and review notes: “This might be my favorite robe of all time. The cropped cut (in the hem and not the sleeves, as it were) is fun and sexy, the color-blocked interior and exterior add visual interest, the towel-like fabric helps you dry off without an actual towel, and the robe achieves warmth while avoiding stuffiness. This is something I’m planning to bring on future trips, too, as the Cozy Earth piece is super flattering while doing its job superbly. In a dream world, it would also be reversible, but I really have no complaints at all!” — Datskovska

Matouk Matteo Robe

Matouk is a leader in luxury home textiles, so it’s really no surprise that the Matteo Robe lives up to every bit of its hype (and considerable price tag, for that matter). Cooling, comfortable, and outfitted in a chic striped print that’s perpetually trending in fashion, the “Editor’s Choice” pick is made from Portuguese cotton and has a seersucker style that delivers all the textural interest with its purposefully wrinkled appearance. The robe’s profile is straightforward-slash-unfussy, and no matter which shade you decide on — whether that be Peony, Bark, the Mediterranean Azure, or something else entirely — sophistication will be yours to enjoy. Need to make things even fancier? Add a monogram on Matouk’s site.

Editor testing and review notes: “The texture of Matouk’s Matteo Robe is unlike anything I’ve tried before, evoking crêpe paper based on its parchment-like delicacy. I wouldn’t say it feels caressing on skin, but that’s the point: The robe is the lightweight antithesis to something ultra-plush and ultra-warm. All of its right angles and crisp corners and folded sleeve edges channel an undeniable feeling of luxury (truly, I felt like a movie star when tiptoeing out of my bedroom while wearing this robe). The length is ideal for both the sleeves and the hem, the pockets don’t sit too low, there’s no weird out-of-the-box smell, and the thinness of the material makes it highly packable. Its pre-crumpled, too, so you don’t have to worry about the kinds of creases that can occur in silk robe variations. The Peony hue I tested felt straight out of a seaside spa, and what could be better than that?” — Datskovska

Brooklinen Dreamweave Waffle Robe

Already a devotee of Brooklinen’s duvet covers, sheet sets, and bath towels? Try the TikTok-viral brand’s Dreamweave Waffle Robe next, which takes advantage of a proprietary weave and a 100-percent Turkish cotton composition while doling out cloudlike softness, incredible lightness, and an absorbency that just might make toweling off after a shower optional. While some waffle robes are known to shrink after a single wash, this is far from the truth for this textural beaut, which feels lush and maintains its shape across years of consistent use. And let us tell you: You’ll be tempted to use it consistently, savoring the robe’s cooling capabilities during the most humid months of the year and after mid-winter baths alike.

“Waffle weaves create a 3D effect that helps absorb moisture faster from the body,” says Preeti Arya, PhD, assistant professor of textile development and marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology. “Moreover, this effect keeps the wearer warmer while being way more aesthetically appealing than many other weave types in robes.” Ponder this information, then click “add to cart.”

Editor testing and review notes: “As a petite girl, I felt like the sleeves here were eating up my arms, yet the oversized feel and waffle fabric also reminded me of a high-quality, award-winning spa. The new Aloe hue is light enough to have a soothing effect without being a classic, predictable white, and the side pockets are of a just-right size (though I’d love for them to be teensy bit higher up!). Ultimately, it’s the Brooklinen robe’s texture that differentiates it most from competitors, being equal parts cooling and simply fun to run your hand over as you spend the daylight hours lounging around.” — Datskovska

Petite Plume Women’s Silk Robe in Midnight Blooms

Our editors adore Petite Plume’s celeb-approved The Olivia pajamas, having recently reviewed them in limited-edition fall colorways. With this silk robe, it’s clear that the brand’s dedication to producing luxurious and timeless sleepwear extends to the loungewear category as well. Made from mulberry silk that boasts the longest and strongest fibers out there, this bathrobe balances impressive durability with head-turning, feminine looks (you’ll quickly fall head over heels for its subtle sheen, saturated coloring, and floral illustrations). The piece’s shawl collar adds some old-school elegance to the mix, and that maxi length will pair perfectly with long pajama bottoms. Petite Plume even recommends repurposing the purchase as a duster over your go-to dress pants, per the recent pajama-dressing trend embraced by fashion insiders worldwide.

Editor testing and review notes: “This robe made me feel like I was living in a different century, in the best of ways. Its elegance is evident right off the bat, and I was equally mesmerized by that luscious floral print and the silk it’s made of (which honestly felt like lotion on my skin). The lapels here appear crisp and fancy; the pockets, too, are a win and something that’s not universal to silk robes. My only qualm? This baby is prone to unraveling because of its smooth-as-can-be fabric, so be sure to tie it on tight!” — Datskovska

Boll & Branch Dream Robe

This bestseller takes Boll & Branch’s Dream Bed Blanket and turns it into something you won’t want to climb out of as soon as you put it on. Crafted out of the same breathable, ultra-fine organic cotton, the Dream Robe looks and feels organic, balances accommodating stretch with shape retention, and is soft from the very beginning — no preliminary wash required. Unisex and what the brand calls “generously sized,” it can effortlessly go overtop your favorite pajamas without making you sweat through all the layers. In fact, this just might become the most gloriously airy robe you own, coming in a range of quiet luxury–inspired, calming colorways: from the pictured Mist to the darker Mineral.

Editor testing and review notes: “I usually go for plush robes, so you can imagine just how refreshing this one felt! Thin, practically weightless, and yet still made out of four whole layers of ultra-fine cotton, it’s the epitome of a cozy buy. I loved the brand’s attention to quality when it came to the robe’s careful, considered stitching, and its natural folds provided a dose of texture that made me want to keep sliding my hands over the piece’s sleeves. In Mist, the robe didn’t overpower the color scheme of my pajamas. In fact, the hue only helped to relax me after long work days.” — WWD Senior Style Commerce Editor Lauren Fisher

Parachute Cozy Knit Robe

Calling all professional, shameless couch rotters and binge-watchers: This Parachute bathrobe is made for all your days in. More cushiony than any lightweight waffle robe, its jersey knit fabric feels almost like a quilt. Composed of a cotton, Tencell lyocell, and linen mix, it takes the best attributes from all those materials: fusing breathability and moisture-wicking capabilities while being resistant to pilling, unwanted wrinkles, and dreaded shrinking. Though the long-sleeved robe extends well beyond the knees, its medium weight won’t feel like a burden. Just add slippers, and you’ll be all set for your journey of rest and relaxation.

Editor testing and review notes: “This robe is gigantic! My 5’3” frame was swallowed up in it, which makes the Parachute top hit perfect for evenings when all you want to do is cocoon yourself in something warm and dissociate. The robe is definitely made for colder days, as the knit material (while not fuzzy) is on the thicker side and quite warming. It has a classic style, a slightly speckled visual effect on the fabric, and a ribbed texture that’s very pleasant to the touch. The belt loops are chunky and do their job exceptionally well! The only thing missing? A hood for even more comfort, but now I’m just being picky.” — Datskovska

Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Adult Robe

Deemed one of Oprah’s Favorite Things, the Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Adult Robe is, well, a dream. Its gentle-on-skin weave and signature CozyChic fabric, rooted in the softness of microfiber, will keep you warm but never too toasty as you read by the fireplace, curl up with breakfast in bed, or take the trash to the curb in the morning. If you haven’t yet experienced the magic of what Barefoot Dreams stands for, join Chrissy Teigen, Hailey Bieber, and other brand fans — getting a taste for its ethos of cozy, chic comfort by investing in a robe that will help you ride out the fall and winter months in style. Bonus points: The Teaberry colorway our editors tested is an oh-so-pretty online exclusive and will appease any tastemaker who also prioritizes snugness.

Editor testing and review notes: “The first thing I appreciated is that Barefoot Dreams’ CozyChic Adult Robe came perfectly tailored to my proportions right out of the box, especially in the sleeves, meaning it’s incredibly true to size. Though the knit material is a bit too much for the summertime (which is when I tested it), I absolutely can’t wait to brave winter in my Barefoot Dreams acquisition. Other positive details to note include ample pocket space for all your tchotchkes, two height options for the belt, and a nice, wide collar. The bottom line? This robe, whose underhand feel reminds me of a plush teddy bear, is just perfect… and it even comes with a cutesy little fabric swatch on the tag for sampling all that softness before you experience it in full.” — Datskovska

Sunday Citizen Plush Bathrobe

Meet the Plush Bathrobe from Sunday Citizen, which launched with the mission of creating the world’s softest blanket and now specializes in all things bedding, furniture, home decor, and loungewear. The brand promises this item is “like a hug you can wear,” which rings true in regards to its 100-percent cotton makeup (long-staple, too, for an extra dose of plushness) and intentionally bulky fit. You’ll appreciate the robe’s ultra-flattering drape, soft feel that gets softer with every spin cycle, and super-fast drying time. Why go to a spa when you can make your own, right from the comforts of home, with the Sunday Citizen Plush Bathrobe in tow?

Editor testing and review notes: “I’ve found that, since first testing out Sunday Citizen’s Plush Bathrobe, I’m tempted to keep it on all day! Though it is possible to get a bit overheated in the robe when it’s still pretty warm outside during early fall, I just know it will be my go-to all winter long. Its yarns feel thick and fluffy (an effect that only increases after a wash); I also feel like it fits super true to size, though some people might need to roll up the sleeves. To be honest, this only adds to the robe’s overall chic look. Get ready to be majorly pampered!” — Fisher

Ettitude Bamboo Waffle Bathrobe

Ettitude’s CleanBamboo fabric — the very same one that swaths its top-rated Signature Bamboo Duvet Cover and Signature Bamboo Sheet Set, two editor-tested recommendations — is reimagined in a waffle weave with this bathrobe, which maintains structure while fluidly moving with your body as you pour consecutive cups of coffee or do some light weekend chores around the house. Delicate and durable both, its bamboo fabric dries faster than cotton and actually gets more absorbent with time, making it a gift that just keeps on giving. We suggest wearing the robe with devotion all season long: discovering Ettitude’s magic touch for yourself.

Editor testing and review notes: “A lightweight waffle robe is much more appealing for a post-shower lazy Sunday, and this bamboo style is ideal for absorbing water without weighing you down. It dries quickly and maintains its soft feel, but don’t toss it in your dryer on a typical high-heat towel setting or your robe will shrink (yes, even shopping editors forget to read care instructions!). Thankfully, you can reverse this shrinkage by washing it again on cold and then air drying. I highly recommend this one for any at-home spa day that demands lots of R&R pampering!” — WWD Commerce Director Adam Mansuroglu

What to Consider When Shopping for the Best Luxury Bathrobes

“When selecting robes for our resort, we look for styles that feel luxurious and that most people would not have at home for everyday use,” explains McIver.

But fluffier doesn’t always mean better. Per Samano, “much like how the myth of thread count has been debunked, the same applies to robe GSM.” (GSM stands for grams per square meter and refers to the weight of the fabric; the higher the GSM, the thicker and heavier the fabric). “It’s important to always keep in mind that thicker, plusher, heavier, and higher-GSM robes [don’t always] equate to quality or luxury,” she reiterates.

Which might leave you with one lingering question: How does one get a sense for whether or not a luxury bathrobe will go the extra mile, providing comfort and years-long durability while looking attractive all the while? Here are some considerations to remember as you shop for your new bathrobe.

Materials: Most luxury robes come in a variety of raw fabrics, with the most popular being the following.

  • Cotton: Soft and comfortable, cotton is the most typical fabric for a bathrobe and benefits from a light weight and breathability. It’s great for the warmer months, and, more often than not, you can clean a cotton-based luxury robe on normal washing machine settings. To attain the highest quality of cotton, go with its Egyptian, Pima, and Turkish varieties. The latter prides itself on being one of the quickest to dry.
  • Silk: Lightweight, incredibly smooth to the touch, and luxurious, silk is another leading material for bathrobes these days. Akin to a silk pillowcase, a silk robe reduces friction on skin, kicking fine lines and wrinkles to the curb. Do note that silk is less durable and more gentle than cotton, making it easier to snag a silk bathrobe and necessitating that you wash it in a more considered way. The brand Petite Plume, for instance, recommends doing so “only by hand or in a laundry bag in the washer in cold water.”
  • Linen: Linen in and of itself is not a raw fabric; it’s a weave sourced from the fibers of the flax plant. Pleasant to the touch and resistant to wear and tear, linen robes also boast high absorbency and thermoregulation properties.
  • Bamboo: A relatively new arrival onto the luxury bathrobes scene, bamboo scores high in softness (you just might mistake it for silk!), sustainability, and odor resistance, not to mention being hypoallergenic, optimizing air flow, and whisking away perspiration. Care-wise, bamboo requires washing on cold with similar fabrics on a gentle or delicate setting. Per bamboo-forward brands like Cozy Earth and Ettitude, you should also avoid using bleach or fabric conditioner on your bamboo robe, so as to maximize its absorbency.

Style: Like dresses, bathrobes vary widely when it comes to their appearance, and this includes things like prints and colors, yes, but also length, pockets, and the presence of a hood. Most robes hit at the knee or extend to the shins, but there are some that have cropped hems (like our editor-loved Weezie Women’s Short Plush Robe). Want even more breathability and less bulk? Consider getting a luxury robe that has short sleeves, too. Hooded robes are great for wrapping yourself in after washing your hair, and roomy pockets come in handy when you want to store your phone or other essentials you can’t lounge without. Sometimes, bathrobes also feature internal ties for an extra-secure fit; this is especially common in silk robes, which tend to come undone faster. Craving a preppy look? Go with starched edges and crisp collars (a striped pattern also never fails to exude class).

Value: As with clothes, the very best bathrobes are those that you end up wearing time and time again, maximizing the bang for your buck by bumping down their cost-per-wear ratio. This means that expensive bathrobes in the luxury category are worth it, so long as their materials and features match what you’re looking for — in all seasons — and won’t have you printing out the return label. Most luxury bathrobes clock in between $100 and $200; in some cases, as with Matouk’s Matteo Robe, they can be well over $200 (and even venture into four-figure territory for designer labels).
