“Steady Through the Storm” is the theme of the next Monaco Superyacht Finance Forum, coming next month. The conference is examining the effects of the current U.S. trade policy, along with a host of other timely topics.
Set for September 23 in Monaco, the day before the Monaco Yacht Show opens, the daylong forum is in its 18th year. Hosted by Marine Money magazine, it attracts senior-level industry professionals, from shipyards to brokerage firms, along with owners’ representatives. As the name indicates, financial matters significantly comprise the agenda. Therefore, one of the most anticipated discussions centers on the trade policies of the United States. With the country being the largest recreational yachting market for every size of yacht, tariffs are impacting builders and suppliers. In fact, domestic and foreign companies are seeing cost increases, as are owners.
Yet another superyacht-finance topic of strong interest is the online auction market for yacht sales. Attitudes have changed dramatically in recent years. Initially, some industry representatives felt auctions cast a shadow over yachting. Now, however, prominent brokerage houses partner with online auction houses to spread word about listings and execute sales more swiftly.

Additionally, as always, speakers will provide an analysis of the state of the industry. For instance, brokerage sales have declined, especially in certain size ranges. New builds, meanwhile, have been soft all year in the sub-superyacht market, including the so-called feeder sizes for superyachts. Trends studies and historical perspectives will put these into sharper focus.
From a different finance perspective, another forum discussion centers on how the industry can expand its charitable support. Already, multiple shipyards, brokers, suppliers, captains, crews, and owners donate funds and time aboard their vessels to several non-profits. Most of these non-profits concentrate on ocean conservation and preservation. The upcoming Marine Money Superyacht Finance forum will shed a light on something different. In fact, key personnel behind the Mercy Ships Yachting Day Gala will discuss what the nonprofit Mercy Ships does and why the next logical partners of support are within yachting.
Registration is currently open. The full agenda is on the forum’s website.
