Wonder Valley Founders List Their Joshua Tree Home for $1.25 Million

The SoCal oasis that Wonder Valley built could now be yours. Alison Carroll and her husband, Jay, who launched the celeb-approved, California-based skincare brand in 2014, are selling their desert retreat in Joshua Tree for $1.25 million.

The couple purchased the property in 2015 after about a year of looking. At that time, the 1950s home was in a state of disrepair, with crumbling pink stucco and some boarded-up windows, but the pair was drawn to the location.

“This neighborhood is where we wanted to land due to its proximity to the national park and 360-degree views of boulders and mountains,” Allison told lifestyle publication Camille Styles last year.

They tracked down the owner and closed on the house a few months later. The couple, then L.A. residents, originally planned to use it as a weekend home but quickly pivoted, renovating it over the subsequent years while living on-site in a Vagabond trailer.

The reimagined abode is now ready for the next owner. “We’re excited to continue exploring new opportunities and shaping our next creative endeavor in the desert that has given us so much,” the Carrolls said in a statement. Clayton Baldwin of Kinetic Properties holds the listing.

Set on 2.5 acres in Monument Manor, the two-bedroom pad is a “personal expression of our travels,” Jay notes, with thoughtful nods to New England and Japan featured throughout. It also reflects the couple’s affinity for unique craftsmanship, showcasing vertical-grain Douglas fir wood, Sedona-sourced red flagstone, oversized steel-framed windows, and unlacquered brass fixtures that pop against calming off-white hues.

Other standout features include sloped wooden ceilings that are locally milled and treated with a citrus-scented tung oil, a stained-glass door by artist Steven Halterman, salvaged wooden pocket doors sourced from El Paso, plus an outdoor mural by artist Tom Jean. Exterior highlights include an outdoor shower with a freestanding clawfoot tub, as well as a workshop and outdoor lounge area with al fresco dining space. Offers for a trailer set next to the home will be considered.

“California’s high desert continues to captivate consumers from around the world, with demand showing no signs of slowing,” Baldwin claims. “Properties like this one stand at the forefront of the market. It’s a rare opportunity to own a piece of Joshua Tree that embodies both authenticity and sophistication.”
