Designing one of the world’s most famous yachts is a dream come true for any number of studios. Imagine, then, having multiple high-profile yachts in one’s portfolio, including some of the biggest private boats in the world. It’s not a dream. It’s the reality for Terence Disdale, the renowned interior designer who established Terence Disdale Design. In the new book Terence Disdale: My Art of Design, he takes you behind the scenes, and behind his craft.
Remarkably, Disdale quit school at the tender age of 15, in the early 1960s. He opened his own studio in 1973, after working for the late Jon Bannenberg for several years. Only in his mid-20s, he nonetheless blazed his own path, and 53 years later, he’s still designing.
Terence Disdale: My Art of Yacht Design peels back the curtain on his creative process. The coffee-table book contains hundreds of images of yachts as diverse and as well-known as Eclipse and Pelorus.
