BOTE’s floating chairs, hammocks, and other inflatable water gear make cruising more fun. Owners and guests who like spending a lot of time in and on the water, though, are seeking stronger sun protection and shielding, Simultaneously, they want solutions that don’t necessarily require buying an entirely new set of watertoys. The BOTE Hangout Shade complements the company’s existing assortment of inflatable floating products.
“It creates an ideal refuge to cool down and get out of the sun while still being part of the gathering,” Zack Eckert, BOTE’s general manager, explains. Suitable for use on the beach, too, it’s not a heavy, bulky canopy that takes effort to haul and set up. In fact, Eckert says, it fits into a backpack and inflates and repacks within minutes each.

If you do have the company’s floating products, the BOTE Hangout Shade integrates with the Hangout Docks. So, if you have the Hangout Dock 7, select the Hangout Shade 7. Similarly, the Hangout Shade 10 suits the Hangout Dock 10. The Shade 7 provides you with about 49 square feet (4.55 square meters) of shade. It’s further about eight feet (2.5 meters) in length. The larger Shade 10 provides about 100 square feet (9.29 square meters) of shade and is nearly 10 feet (3 meters) long. Mesh sides keep the air flowing through, yet the fabric still provides sun protection. According to BOTE, it has a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) of 50+.
Each shade comes with a hand pump, attachment straps, a water-resistant carrying bag, and a repair kit. (For using it on the beach, order BOTE’s Sand Anchors.)

The smaller shade sells for $669. The larger one is $799. They’re available directly from BOTE and select retailers.
