Seabob SE63 Sees Lamborghini Enter the Superyacht Watertoy Market

You’ll be the first to see a special-edition Lamborghini-branded Seabob if you’re attending the Cannes Yachting Festival this week. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until next summer to get your hands on one. Then again, if you’re a fan of both the popular watertoy and the famed sports-car maker, you might not mind the wait for the Seabob SE63.

The Seabob SE63 marks a first-time collaboration between Automobili Lamborghini and Cayago, Seabob’s manufacturer. The “63” in the model name honors the year that Ferruccio Lamborghini founded his eponymous company in Italy. “SE,” meanwhile, signifies “Special Edition.” The watertoy is certainly a special edition, with an abundance of Lamborghini design influences, as well as performance influences.

For instance, the same orange, yellow, and other bold colors you expect to find on a Lamborghini characterize the Seabob. Secondly, the start button and carbon fiber aesthetic of the watertoy are the same as those of the Lamborghini supercars. You’ll further recognize the digital speedometer aesthetics.

On the performance side, while still an electric watertoy the same as other Seabobs, the Seabob SE63 has electrically extending side wings. These lend more stability when carving up the water’s surface. Additionally, Cayago offers an optional Performance Board you can add to the back end. It allows you to lay flat (above), rather than hold the watertoy in front of you, plus boosts the maximum speed to 22 mph (35 km/h). It’s thanks to another foil, allowing quick planing. Either way, the Seabob SE63 has two driving modes. According to Cayago, sport mode “massively” increases torque so that you reach peak performance fast. Normal mode, meanwhile, still lets you zip around quickly, but it also lets you head underwater, again like other Seabobs.

Weighing 77 pounds (35 kilograms), and comprised of titanium, magnesium, and carbon fiber, the Seabob SE63 further will be available directly from select Seabob distributors next summer.
