A Former Yahoo Executive’s Sprawling Wyoming Ranch Lists for $19M

Former Yahoo executive JJ Healy is bidding adieu to his longtime retreat in Wyoming. The 3,430-acre Double J Ranch in Daniel, about an hour south of Jackson Hole, has been listed for $18.95 million with Matt MacMillan of LiveWater Properties.

When Healy bought the property in 2003, it hadn’t seen a full-time resident in nearly 40 years. Since then, he’s transformed the scenic spread into a working ranch and family compound, restoring historic structures, building new complementary ones, and carefully managing the land. His stewardship earned him Wyoming’s Landowner of the Year award in 2013.

At the center of the ranch is a 5,800-square-foot lodge that combines classic Rocky Mountain rusticity with Old World European elegance. The architecture leans into strong and natural materials—oxidized steel, moss rock, and rough-sawn cedar—balanced by wide windows that frame artistic vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges. Six guest cabins are clustered along the edge of a pond just below the house, along with a communal cookhouse.

The Double J, comfortably able to accommodate large groups at any time of the year, is well set up for outdoor recreation. With more than four miles of the Horse Creek meandering through the property, anglers have their pick of blue-ribbon trout waters, from a stocked pond for beginners to a spring creek for more seasoned fly fishers. The ranch also lies directly on the path of one of the largest mule deer and antelope migrations in the Lower 48, drawing hunters each year, and when snow covers the valley, the focus shifts to winter activities—snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and even ice skating on the pond.

The ranch’s two barns, multiple tack rooms, and a lighted training arena make it well-suited for equestrian pursuits. In the summers, cattle graze across the acreage, with the ranch currently running about 200 cow-calf pairs, along with horses, chickens, and a few pigs. The working side of the ranch sits comfortably alongside its role as a getaway for friends and family.

Along with its 3,430 acres of deeded land, the ranch transfers with another 2,800 acres of leased land for a total of about 6,250 acres supported by senior water rights to both Horse Creek and the Green River. It’s an expanse of land so large, in fact, that driving across it can take the better part of an afternoon, an experience more akin to crossing a national park than a private estate.

For Healy, the Double J has been home, livelihood, and gathering place for more than two decades. For its next steward, it offers privacy, history, and a rare chance to own one of Wyoming’s marquee ranch properties, just far enough from Jackson Hole to feel remote while still close enough to tap into the valley’s amenities.
