ChatGPT Chose Sides When Designing Us A Performance Sedan

Many of us have sat down and designed our own dream sports car, supercar, sedan, motorbike, or truck by splicing and combining some of our favorite models into one. Taking the tail end of a Fastback Mustang 390 GT, adding it to the body of a 1970s Corvette, adding the hood of a Mercedes 300 SL, fitting the dash from a Studebaker GT Hawk, the psychedelic square-patterned seats of a late-70s Porsche 928, and drawing in a big-block 454 LS6 V8 from a 1970 Chevelle SS is just one way to spend more than a few hours creating something that would never make it to the road.

But if drawing isn’t your strong suit, or you just can’t decide what you’d use as inspiration, today, you can use AI to design a vehicle. So, this is what we did. We asked ChatGPT to design a performance sedan for us, and it is very clear about what it thinks a performance sedan should look like. We can’t say we aren’t unimpressed with what it came up with.

To give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from various automakers and other authoritative sources, including ChatGPT, Kelley Blue Book, and JD Power.

Three Luxury Sedans In One: The Choice Was Clear

As simple as that, we asked ChatGPT to design us a realistic performance sedan, and it spat out a pretty conclusive idea of what it should look like. From what we can see, ChatGPT has conceptualized a sedan that combines two German luxury sports sedans and one South Korean luxury sedan.

AI has chosen the side away from American and British performance sedans to create something that looks futuristic, pretty plush, and something we’d love to see on the road one day.

The Bodies Of An Audi S6, BMW M550i, And A Genesis G80

From where we are sitting, the ChatGPT-created performance sedan has combined the bodies of a 2025 Audi S6, a 2025 Genesis G80, and the latest BMW M550i: the 2023 model year. Arguably, there aren’t many more striking luxury sedans from the last few years that should be merged to create a new performance sedan with a totally unique design.

From the front, the rendered performance sedan boasts the crisp face of the S6, with razor-sharp LED headlights with angular DRL signatures, and a wide, horizontal grille. The clean lines and geometric light signature look distinctly Audi, and the hood’s subtle creases run tightly toward the A-pillars, giving it a look of forward motion, while the sculpted hood and the cutting body lines flow seamlessly into the doors, giving it that precise look that Audi engineers seem to nail most of the time.

The BMW M550i influence comes through in the proportions and presence. Blended with the other two sedans, there is a muscular, planted stance; the kind that suggests that a powerful engine may be under the hood. The deep creases in the bodywork, wide bumper, beefy haunches over the rear wheels, and massive turbine-inspired wheels channel M550i vibes, while the short overhangs, long hood, and slightly rear-shifted cabin are textbook BMW.

Then there is the G80’s part. The fluid roofline, tapering into the rear deck, is indicative of Genesis‘s obsession with graceful motion. The dual-line taillights stretch wide across the back; the rear fascia integrates the exhaust surrounds, and chrome detailing around the windows and along the lower body adds a polished and artistic flair that we see so much in Genesis sedans. All in all, we think it did quite a good job at creating something here.

The Engine Choices This Performance Sedan Could Have

If this performance sedan were ever put into production and the engines from the three ‘donor sedans’ were utilized, we’d have a good selection to choose from. The 2025 Genesis G80 is available with two engines, the S6 with just one, and the M550i also boasts just one, but it is the most powerful.

In for a dime, in for a dollar, if this design were feasible engineering-wise, we’d go for the most powerful of the three to sit under the hood of a new performance sedan. The 2023 BMW M550i is equipped with a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo N63 mill, one of the most precise and advanced V8s from recent years.

It runs an almost square setup (89 mm bore/88.3 mm stroke), which gives you a balance of smooth revs and punchy low-end grunt. Each bank of cylinders gets its own TwinScroll Turbocharger nestled in the ‘hot-V’ layout, which means short exhaust paths and rapid turbo response; it boasts direct fuel injection, BMW’s Valvetronic system for variable lift, and Double VANOS for continuously adjustable cam timing.

To top it off, the M550i’s powertrain boasts 32 valves and is dialed in at a 10.5:1 compression ratio, so it breathes effortlessly and runs very smoothly. Ideal for a sedan that strikes a good balance between luxury and aggressiveness.

The Performance Features We Would Choose From Each Model

On JD Power, owners have rated the 2025 G80 67 out of 100 and the 2023 BMW 5 Series as 79 out of 100 for driving experience. There is currently no JD Power rating for the 2025 Audi S6, but we do know that it, alongside the other two luxury performance sedans, is filled with tech and hardware that make it both comfortable on the road and ready to pin it in the canyons.

The Genesis G80 impresses with its Electronically Controlled Suspension with Road Previews, which utilizes a front-facing camera to scan the road and adjust damping on the fly. It smooths out bumps and keeps you comfortable on the road, while the rear electronic limited-slip diff (e-LSD) keeps it planted through fast corners.

You also get four-wheel vented discs with an electronic parking brake, plus dual stainless steel exhaust pipes. It offers a good blend of comfort and agility.

The 2023 BMW M550i xDrive is a BMW M model, so you get a lot of performance goodies in the shape of Adaptive M Suspension with rear M Sport differential, which actively sends torque to the wheel that needs the most shoring up. Paired with rear-biased AWD, you get a very confident feel behind the wheel and through aggressive corners.

The available M Sport Brakes package with vented discs and bright calipers also provides exceptional stopping power, while standard-fit launch control lets you tear off the line, and the sport/quasi-dual stainless exhaust delivers a far more sporty note from the tail than what the G80 can muster.

If we’re being honest with ourselves, then we’d admit that the M550i engine is one of the most exciting and thrilling engines ever made. Factor BMW’s xDrive system into the equation, and the M550i is one helluva performance car.

– 2023 BMW M550i Review by Charlen Raymond — CarBuzz

The Audi S6 boasts its own arsenal of impressive features, such as adaptive air and multi-link suspension, performance tires, a brake-actuated limited-slip diff, and four-wheel vented discs, but if we could merge all three to create a new performance sedan, we would choose:

  • The G80’s road-reading suspension for comfort.
  • The M550i’s adaptive chassis, rear M Sport differential, and M Sport brakes for sharp handling.
  • The S6’s brake-actuated LSD, air suspension, and performance tires.
  • The M550i’s easy-breathing exhaust system for snappy throttle feedback and a real growl from the pipes.

The Practical And Plush Interior Of All Three

All three luxury sedans that ChatGPT has used to create a performance sedan boast a huge amount of comfort and luxurious features. From what it has created, we can see a mix of all three in the cabin, but it is clear that tech-forward and minimalist luxury design have been chosen. So, choosing the features we’d cherry-pick from each would be difficult, but if we had to go from owner reviews alone, it would be the comfort features of either the 2025 Audi S6 or the 2023 BMW M550i.

According to owner reviews on Kelley Blue Book, the G80 has been rated 4.2 out of 5 overall and 4.2 for comfort, the S6 has been rated 4.4 out of 5 overall and 4.7 for comfort, and the 2023 M550i has been rated 4.4 overall and 4.9 out of 5 for comfort.

The Tech And Luxury Features That Should Be Included

Starting with the tech, the G80 comes equipped with the largest multimedia setup in the shape of a 27-inch OLED integrated display (gauge cluster and infotainment), so that would have to take pride of place. Arguably, the interior design of the G80 is the most serene of the three models, with open-pore wood, Nappa leather upholstery, and a very refined trim finish, so again, we’d choose to use these features.

The 2025 Audi S6 boasts a sportier feel inside, with aluminum inlays and a very clean-cut trim utilized around the cabin, so considering we have thought about wedging in the V8 from the M550i under the hood, we’d add these features to make it feel like a proper performance sedan inside. However, it is the M550i’s seating and finishing touches we’d add.

The 2023 M550i is the latest model you can buy, and BMW threw a lot at it in the form of illuminated door sills, high-gloss Shadow Line trim, multi-contour front bolstered seats, a power moonroof, and high-gloss-finished physical buttons to complement the massive OLED screen.

It Wouldn’t Be A Sedan Without Some Ease Of Use

All three sedans used to create this performance sedan are highly-regarded, but if this model were to be built, we’d want the oodles of legroom from the Genesis G80 and the cargo capacity of the electric Audi S6 e-tron Sportback, not the sedan. While the M550i boasts a decent amount, both in terms of front legroom and cargo capacity, it does lack slightly compared to the two other models in the rear.

The G80 boasts a very generous front legroom of 42.2 inches and a rear legroom of 38.7 inches; the Audi S6 boasts 41.3 inches of front legroom and 37.4 inches of rear legroom, while the 2023 M550i boasts 41.1 inches of front legroom and 36.5 inches of rear legroom.

The M550i boasts a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, the S6 e-tron Sportback boasts a 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat, and the G80’s rear seats are fixed in place, so cargo capacity is slightly restricted. It is the Audi S6 e-tron Sportback, though, that far trumps available cargo space. Considering we are picking and choosing, we’d want to utilize its maximum cargo capacity.
