Corinthia Hotels is bringing its brand of timeless luxury to one of Italy’s most coveted destinations with plans for a 58-key resort on Lake Como, scheduled to open in late 2028.
The Corinthia Lake Como will rise in the alpine village of Menaggio, adjacent to Italy’s second-oldest golf course on the lake’s western shore. The development represents a rare, fully integrated luxury resort in a destination known for its limited hospitality supply and high demand.
The property will mark Corinthia’s second location in Italy, combining restored heritage architecture with contemporary outdoor living spaces. Plans call for an upscale spa, wellness facilities, multiple dining venues, and a lakefront beach club offering direct water access at one of the lake’s widest points.
Three branded residences will be part of the development, while public spaces will be distributed across three restored villas housing the lobby, lounge, and golf club—each positioned to frame views of the surrounding mountains and lake. Guest accommodations will blend into the natural landscape, with architecture designed to reflect the understated character of Como’s villages and Menaggio’s refined aesthetic.
“Lake Como is one of the world’s most admired destinations, and this development represents a shared commitment to excellence and authenticity,” Corinthia CEO Simon Casson said in a statement. “Together, we will deliver a hotel that celebrates the region’s splendour and heritage while exemplifying Corinthia’s standards of timeless, thoughtful luxury.”
Construction is expected to begin following final planning approvals. The property is owned by the Putter Fund and being developed by Kervis SGR S.p.A, an Italian real estate and special situations investment manager overseeing more than €1.5 billion in assets. Kervis serves as asset manager for the Putter Fund, which is fully invested by a RoundShield entity.
The Lake Como resort echoes the romance of the Maltese villa where the brand’s story began, continuing Corinthia’s tradition of creating properties designed to endure across generations—and making us all start thinking about booking our future luxe Italian getaway.
