As someone who’s been very curious to see where Samuel Ross’ involvement with Hublot would go after creating three versions of what I’ve previously called Hublot’s concept car, I’m glad that the next project between the two parties is with the Big Bang Unico. The skeletonized Unico movement makes perfect sense to pair with the more unconventional case design, and it’s an overall cohesive look that manages to feel a bit more subtle (as much as a Big Bang can be, anyway) than the tourbillons, in no small part due to the sheer amount of honeycomb on the previous designs. With the smaller dimensions, this watch will surely have significantly more customer appeal. But if I’ve learned anything from seeing the SR_A tourbillon in the metal, the case design is quite elongated, and though the dimensions are smaller, the watch might wear noticeably broad lug-to-lug. This watch will surely be worth trying on in person, and I genuinely hope to do so soon.
