The largest private yacht currently in build at a shipyard in The Netherlands is finally in the water. The code-named yacht Project Tanzanite is about a year from completion and therefore making more history, as the largest delivery from Damen Yachting.
As a completely custom megayacht, she’s part of the Amels Full Custom family. In fact, the yard calls her an Amels Full Custom 120 yacht, due to her LOA. It’s 394 feet (120 meters). Volume is equally significant, coming in at 6,083 gross tons.
Damen Yachting started construction at its hull facility in Romania. It hosted a technical launch ceremony in 2023 (below), which the craftspeople who contributed to the build attended. But, Damen Yachting also welcomed a group of local schoolchildren to watch the large structure slide sideways into the water. Following this, the builder transported the completed hull and superstructure to its Vlissingen shipyard. Project Tanzanite has remained inside the shed until her launch within the last several days.
Notably, Damen Yachting says that upwards of 1,000 craftspeople will continue to outfit the superyacht over the next year. Many of those tradespeople are direct employees, while others are contractors from around the world.

Due to confidentiality agreements, few other facts are available. That includes the interior designer, unusually. Initially, Zuretti Design was handling the interiors, with renderings revealing a subdued, calming color palette.
What remains the same, though, is that styling is by Espen Øino. Drawings have revealed two helipads aboard, one on the foredeck and the other aft on the sundeck. Additionally, drawings have revealed a long pool on the main deck, extending partially out over an open area on the lower deck. Judging from the current launch photos, tenders stow behind large shell doors flanking the foredeck.
Being an Amels Full Custom, the yacht Project Tanzanite is in good company. Recent fellow Full Custom deliveries include Here Comes the Sun, a 272-footer (83-meter). Additionally, Energy, an Amels 78 Full Custom, saw delivery in 2022.
Ultimately, when the yacht begins cruising, a crew of 43 will handle operations.
