The North Face and Aimé Leon Dore Drop a Limited-Edition Clothing Line

Serial collaborator The North Face is at it again.

The outerwear specialist, founded in San Francisco but now headquartered in Colorado, has teamed up with New York City-based fashion house Aimé Leon Dore for a new limited-edition line of apparel, accessories, and footwear.

The North Face is no stranger to joint collections, previously working with fashion houses such as Gucci, Comme des Garçons, and Supreme. This time around, the label’s classic pieces have been reinterpreted through the refined lens of Aimé Leon Dore. Founded in 2014 by Teddy Santis, the menswear label creates elevated streetwear with a strong focus on simple yet powerful design.

“Our collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore inspired us to reimagine iconic The North Face pieces originally born on the mountain,” The North Face’s director of global collaborations and energy, David Whetstone, said in a statement.

The iconic Nuptse jacket, first introduced in 1992, has been reissued in Casentino Wool sourced from a renowned mill in southern Italy. The historic, centuries-old material, which is a favorite of Aimé Leon Dore, undergoes a treatment called “ratinatura” that gives it a distinctive “curly” finish, as well as thermal insulation and water repellency. A matching Casentino Wool hat is also offered in the collection.

The beloved Denali jacket from 1988 has been reborn as a sharp, all-nylon suit that would not look out of place on the streets of N.Y.C. The waterproof ensemble also comes with a matching hat.

“Aimé Leon Dore’s focused point of view enhanced these icons from our DNA with careful consideration,” adds Whetstone.

The line includes original creations, too, such as a waterproof shell jacket inspired by a traditional firefighter’s coat. Featuring a three-layer waterproof shell with durable ballistic nylon overlays, the hardwearing garment (pictured top) combines a classic design with modern materials. Details such as the D-rings on the sleeves are also a nod to hardware on The North Face’s Base Camp Duffel.

Speaking of bags, the drop includes a backpack, a crossbody, and a rope bag. That isn’t all for accessories, either: The Verto Alpine shoe has been given a stylish leather twist.

The collection is set to launch on Friday, September 19, with prices ranging from $180 to $800. You can shop it at Aimé Leon Dore’s New York and London locations, as well as select The North Face stores in Asia. It will also be available on the Aimé Leon Dore website.
